BEAN DROP - PREMIER PLUS+ SEBASTIAN GOMEZ

Bean Drop 05 — Premier Plus+

The return of a familiar favourite.

Some coffees leave an impression long after the last cup.

That’s exactly how we felt about Sebastián Gomez’s coffee, so when the opportunity came to bring it back, we didn’t hesitate. We thought it was worthy of the Premier Plus title, our latest Bean Drop and another reminder of why Colombian coffee continues to set the benchmark for specialty.

Nestled in the hills of Circasia, Quindío. LaDivisa Farm is run by Sebastián Gomez and his family. Coffee has been part of their lives for decades, but in 2014 Sebastián returned home with a different vision. After seeing the rise of specialty coffee around the world, he shifted the farm’s focus away from producing more coffee and toward producing exceptional coffee. It was a long game, but one that has paid off, with La Divisa now recognised for producing some of Colombia’s most exciting lots.

For this release, Sebastián has selected the Chiroso variety—a coffee that has quietly become one of the industry’s most talked-about cultivars. Once believed to be related to Caturra, genetic research has since linked Chiroso back to Ethiopian landrace varieties, helping explain its vibrant acidity, floral aromatics and remarkable complexity.

The coffee is harvested only when perfectly ripe before undergoing 45 hours of aerobic fermentation and a slow natural drying process over raised beds. The result is a cup that’s clean, expressive and layered with sweetness.

Expect notes of pineapple, lime and rose, backed by a bright acidity, crisp finish and the kind of balance that keeps you reaching for another sip.

At Steam Brothers, Premier Plus represents coffees that go beyond great—they’re coffees with incredible producers, standout varieties and stories worth sharing.

Some coffees come and go.

Others earn a return.

We’re pretty happy this one’s back. Pick up a bag of this brilliant Bourbon bean on the site.
